POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is for a general labor position. This position will work with the welding lead to complete tasks related to termite welding such as moving rail, preparation for welding, grinding and site cleanup and to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires you to be able to travel to any location in the United States and to work a scheduled outlined by the lead welder or Foreman. This position may require long hours in either extreme high or low temperatures that may be intensified by the welding.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma /GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver’s License
- The ability to operate both powered and non-powered machinery
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- Ability to travel for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Experience in Thermite Welding techniques and processes
- Outside work experience (e.g. construction, heavy equipment operation, farming, landscaping)
Basic Competencies
- Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications-both general and technical)
- Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
- Reasoning skills (problem solving and trouble shooting skills)
- Mechanical aptitude
- Valid and consistent form of contact.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis
- Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
- Exposure to equipment that intensifies heat factor
Employment Conditions
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may need to be obtained based on job assignment
- Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
- Wear protective equipment such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, or safety glasses
- Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work
- Complete annual training and pass safety and track worker rules examination
- Must successfully pass probationary period
- May require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol
- Must pass all required assessments
- Must pass a background screening
- May require a post-offer medical examination, including drug and physical capabilities test
- Requires frequent revision in work assignments
- Travel required
- Active employees must complete one year in current position or craft before applying for positions
